When the going gets tough….
When
the going gets tough, the tough get going. So runs the old maxim. The
going was getting tough for Jesus when in a moment of magic he heard again
those words of the Father, spoken years earlier at his baptism in the
river Jordan. When the going gets tough, the Lord is at hand with words of wisdom. “Listen to him,” to Jesus who stays with us through thick and thin, clear and close on hills of happiness, but closer still in the tough times when the fogs of life are dense and dark. We make our own for Lent, for life, the resolve of Paul in today’s second reading: “Do not give way but remain faithful in the Lord.” Fr. Eamon Devlin, C.M. 4th March, 2007 |
