Be a good Samaritan  Yourself

Jesus is at his story telling best in this gospel. He tells us about our human indifference (Priest,

Levite and Lawyer)  and our human kindness (the foreigner who helped) I find lots of myself in , the self righteous Lawyer, the Priest and Levite, rushing by on the other side, the victim of a robbery/ mugging. Jesus also tells his own story, I chose to come down from Heaven to help you, the victims of Satan’s robbery and muggings. I ended up a 33 year old victim on Calvary. That’s how much I love you, humans. Now I want you, indeed to command you to love each other as I freely love you. Please love your neighbour as you love yourself.

“Anyone who needs me, and whom I can help, is my neighbour, Calling for my own practical commitment hear and new.” (nn15)

Pope Benedict mentions the Good Samaritan four times is God Is Love (his encyclical letter). St. Vincent and St. Louise are two of his fourteen models Good Samaritan Saints.

Jesus and Benedict urges us, Vincentatian People and Priest of St. Peter’s to be the same.
