proudly on Dublin's Northside, each stone of this noble landmark bears the story
of hundreds of Irish people of many generations who dared to dream a dream.

Harry Clarke Stained Glass
Windows
This window is considered to be one of Harry Clarke's early masterpieces
entitled 'The Adoration of the Sacred Heart' 1919 St. Peter's Phibsborough. It
is a three light window depicting the Sacred Heart, St. Margaret Mary and St.
John Eudes. It was commissioned by the Vincentian Fathers as St.
Peter's was home to the Arch-Confraternity of the Sacred Heart in Dublin. This
window was incorporated into the design of our new Chapel of Adoration which was
opened two years ago. Exposition takes place daily Tuesday to Saturday.
Why not come along for some moments of quiet prayer and reflect on this
beautiful work of art. Further work was carried out in St. Peter's
in 1925 when Harry Clarke created the windows in the mortuary chapel. The
Arch-Confraternity of the Sacred Heart still meet today in St. Peter's carrying
on the tradition which inspired the work of Harry Clarke. Read more

Shrine to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
Love and devotion to the Virgin Mary is very important in the Vincentian
tradition and is reflected by our community here at St. Peter's. Many
people drop in each day to light a candle at the Shrine or to place their petitions for our
weekly Mass with Novena Prayers on Monday nights at 7.00 pm. The annual Triduum
to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal each November is a special event in
the life of our parish.
If you would like to send us a petition for inclusion in our weekly novena, send
it to us at info@stpetersphibsboro.ie
or take a
moment and pause now and join with us in prayer for your
special intention. |

Memorial Garden Shrine
A new devotional space was added to St. Peter's in
our Jubilee Year to remember all our loved one's who have died. This
remembrance garden was the inspiration of parishioners who wished to have a
dedicated place within the church to pray for their dead. A list of
all who have died in our parish during the year is placed in a book at the shrine and
seasonally the garden is decorated lovingly by parishioners. Each November,
a special Service of Remembrance takes place with an opportunity to pray as a
community for all our dead. The shrine is obviously meeting a need as
many visitors daily come to light a candle, or just pause and take time to
remember their loved ones. Join us in prayer by visiting 'In
Loving Memory' - listing those who died in our parish last year or take a
moment yourself in prayer to remember someone close to you who has died. |

Vincentian Family Icons
To commemorate the 25 year Jubilee Celebration of
the Parish in 1999, three icons were commissioned to represent the Vincentian
family and placed for veneration in a new shrine in St. Peter's. These
icons are of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louise de Marillac and Blessed Frederic
Ozanam. This place of quiet in the church allows all of us to reflect on
the lives of those whose spirit permeates this parish, and to pray to these
Vincentian Saints for the needs of the poor in our midst. For more
detail on these Vincentian
Family Icons
you can read what Iconographer
Fearghal O'Farrell has to say about them. Find out more about St.
Vincent,
St. Louise and Blessed Frederic by visiting our international Vincentian website or The
Vincentian Center for Church and Society at St. John's University in New York

Pipe Organ at St. Peter's
The Pipe Organ in St. Peters dates from
1912 and was built by the firm of Peter Conacher located in Huddersfield,
England. A major rebuild of the organ was undertaken in the period
1947-1949 . This instrument was considered to be one of the finest in
Dublin at the time, and much of this work remains today except for minor
alterations and unfortunately approximately 450 pipes which appear to have been
removed from the instrument , unknown to anyone, around 1973. The
instrument at St. Peters was actually so highly regarded that the world famous
French organist Jeanne Demesiux was invited to give a recital on it in 1952.
(Recently we have commissioned the firm of Henry Willis & Son to carry out
a preliminary survey of the instrument to establish the volume and cost of
work to restore the organ to its 1952 condition, and preserve for all, an
instrument worthy to compliment the magnificent church in which it is
situated) |

Shrine to
St. John Gabriel Perboyre, CM
The
community here at St. Peter's has shown a great interest in the life and work of
St.John Gabriel in China. A special society was formed here to pray for
his canonisation. The people of Phibsboro were represented at his
canonisation in Rome in 1996 and have experienced the effect of prayer to St.
John Gabriel at his Shrine since it opened the same year.
On Sunday, June 2, 1996, Pope John Paul II canonized and declared to the whole
world that John Gabriel Perboyre (1802-1840) is officially a saint. Among the
Vincentian family, John Gabriel is considered quite popular due to his life and
heroic martyrdom which captured imaginations of so many men and women all over
the world.
Perboyre was missioned in China
when he suffered martydom. Interestingly, his betrayal and death resembles the
passion of Jesus Christ. It is said that the people of China continue to share
in the passion today, as do countless others, not only in Asia, but throughout
the world. Learn more about the life of St.
