Recently there has been a very welcome regeneration of the Phibsborough area not least through the arrival of the Luas, the establishment of the Technical University at Grangegorman and the proposed refurbishment of Dalymount Park and Phibsborough Shopping Centre. The physical regeneration is accompanied by a diverse cultural regeneration aided by the range of nationalities which have made their home here.
St. Peter’s Church is a landmark on Dublin’s Northside, standing at the junction of North Circular Road and Cabra Road. It is home to a series of Harry Clarke windows and boasts a pipe organ dating back to 1910. Considered to be one of the finest organs in the country, now unfortunately in need of restoration. The Organ was so highly regarded that in 1951 the world famous French organist Jeanne Demessieux gave a recital on it.
To start our fundraising efforts, we are planning a series of concerts of which the performance of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday 24th November is the first. We are delighted the Guinness Choir and Orchestra accepted our invitation to perform on the night along with renowned Soloists, Patricia Bardon, Andrew Boushell, Colette Boushell and Rory Musgrave.
It is our hope that St. Peter’s will continue to play its part in the social and cultural renewal of the area.
